Day 15. Flagstaff, Arizona 4.3.24

Today we farewelled our hosts and tour guide. We are very grateful for all their hospitality, help and advice in the past week or so.

We have taken our blue guinea pig on a chilly journey north. The scenery has been absolutely outstanding.

Millions of photos to follow of red rocks and snow/ice but first we need to eat. We shared a banana for breakfast and shared a muffin for lunch so we had an early dinner at 4.30pm!

View at the Red Rock Ranger Centre, our 1st stop.

How could I not do a photo 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately the car parks were full at the first 2 'rocks' we stopped at so we were unable to do a hike. I jumped out long enough to snap a few photos before we moved on.

We stopped to see the chapel built into a rock.

About halfway up the walk to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.

We lit a candle for my son as it's been 3 yrs today since he passed away. It's really hard having 2 different time zones, so I did a 🥂& 😢 on our home time and lit a candle for this time zone.

Check out that house

We headed back to Oak Creek for our only coffee of the day.
Finally we found an explanation of the coffee styles here. I changed to a latte and it was much better.
The views in Oak Creek were stunning.

Heading further north the traffic was humming along at 10 miles per hour 🤦‍♀️

We stopped at the Airport mesa in Sedona.

A pano from the airport lookout.

Oak Creek.
We decided to headed to Flagstaff and find a home for the night. The drive was very scenic.

We walked/ran across the very busy road for dinner.

Today we walked 5kms & drove 168 miles/270 kms.

Had to break out the coat to go to dinner.

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
