Day 40. Mound City, Missouri 29.3.24

The weather channel said it got down to 3° overnight. I didn't check until 7.30am and my phone says it's 11° already.

Today we're heading to Nebraska city before crossing the border into Iowa and then into Missouri.

Stopped at McCafe for a coffee while we waited for the Arbor Lodge State  Historical Park to open.

The 3rd floor is full of display cabinets.

The coach house.

Although the gardens weren't at their prettiest you could see how beautiful it will be later in spring.

Lots of big, older houses on the way out of town.

Crossing the Missouri River in to our 8th state of Iowa for just 13 miles/21 kms.

We've seen a few of these rigs.
Once we settled in to our room in Mound City we went for a walk along the main road. Pretty little garden beds dotted the main sidewalk.

Lots of buildings.

The footpath was not foot friendly. Lots of car parts in yards and the building below said it was the vet 🤔

The nicest house we saw.

Sinclair's fuel stations have dinosaurs out the front.

Mound City has a population of 1,000 people and the elevation is only 961 ft, much lower than we have been.

Today we travelled 104 miles/167 kms.
The weather has been deliciously warm at 25°

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
