Day 18 Williams 7.3.24

I peaked out of the window at 5 am, it was cold (0°) and dark so I went back to bed. Checked again at 7am and it was lightly snowing and -1°. By the time I got dressed it had almost stopped.

The snow I scooped off the car was dirty underneath but I managed to make a dirty, mini snowman of sorts.

We went for a walk to get some hot, fluffy pancakes for breakfast and when we got back my snowman had slid off the car.

Skid mark

And now he's a little blob

The plan for today is to take a walk on a trail in Flagstaff before driving half an hour west to Williams for the next 2 nights.

We opted for the 2 mile loop. It was very cold, about 2°, and still snowing very lightly.

The 2 mile loop was 3.5km by the time we got back to the car.
The drive to Williams was very interesting. Lots of snow falling but the wind was blowing it off the road.

Pete's museum was closed unfortunately as we were planning on checking it out.

We wandered in and out of many shops in the main street.

I was fascinated by these dolls. If I was still working I would have been very tempted to bring a couple home.

Dioramas of what route 66 use to be like.

The internet is hopeless in our room. So blog is being updated as possible.

Mark got a bit excited when he saw the espresso sign above only to find a building block 😁

An old 'junk yard ' or car museum.

Marks turn to pose with Smokey.

We are staying at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. It's definitely a lot classier than the Motel 6 we were at the last 3 nights.
Our room for 2 nights.
The lobby.

The court yard.

It's currently 7pm and it's 0° already. Todays top temperature in Williams was 4°.

Today we travelled 106 miles/170 kms.

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
