Day 52. NYC 10.4.24

Another fun day today. Off to explore Central Park on a pedicab and checkout a Cathedral and then hopefully go to the One Vanderbilt Summit observation tower.

Breakfast was at the Carnegie diner and was absolutely huge. We should have shared as I couldn't even eat half of mine.

These bike hand warmers are all the rage in NYC.

Trump International Hotel.

Cherry trees apparently only flower for about 2 weeks of the year. How lucky were we to be there for the fantastic display.

Millionaires row behind us.
This building is over 100 years old.  It's also where Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy got married. After googling this fact provided by our guide I am heart broken to say they have since broken up.

Ice skating rink featured in the Home Alone movie.

Lots of squirrels today. The black ones are from Canada apparently.

The lake from the Stuart Little movie.

Boat shed.

More Cherry blossoms. Lots of people were photographing the trees or picnicking.

Bow Bridge.

The Dakota Building, where John and Yoko Lennon lived. John was assassinated outside this building in December 1980. The murderer is still behind bars apparently.

Danny our guide.
Coffee before we head off on foot to find a Cathedral.

No idea what that is supposed to be.
Sadly no shopping allowed.

Saint Patrick's Cathedral.

Finally we got to Summit One Vanderbilt. It's an interactive art space and observation tower. I decided we would only do one observation tower and I chose this one. I was not disappointed, the views were outstanding and we had a lot of fun playing. Mark wasn't convinced at first but he ended up having just as much fun, particularly in the mirror ball room, as I did. We took soooo many photos.

This room was full of glass and mirrors.

This was the mostest, funest room of all. I laughed so much my ribs hurt.

We went out on the glass ledge

After all that excitement we walked back to the hotel for a bit of a rest.

Around 8ish I went out to Times Square to grab some dinner. Not as many people out tonight but I had a headache from all the smell of marijuana that is legally Smoked on the streets. It seemed to be more prevalent tonight.

Today we walked over 13kms. The weather was lovely, 18° I left my coat at home for the first time in weeks.

Day 90. Home. 18.5.24

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
