Another huge day exploring today. We went Liberty Island, climbing up to the crown, and to Ellis Island. It's chilly and wet.
I have taken way toooo many photos again and my feet are tired.
Entering the pedestal.
It's quite a steep climb to the top of the pedestal. Certainly warmed up by then.
View from the pedestal too.
Misty rain.
It got much narrower and steeper after this.
Spiral staircase was very steep and narrow.
I got over heated in my coat so had to stop a couple of times. It was too awkward to take it off.
The view from inside the crown ⬇️
The arm ↕️
Separate staircases for up and down. We were lucky enough to be at the end of the first group to go up, so we had it to ourselves for quite awhile and chatted to the 2 gentlemen who worked there.
On the way down from the pedestal.
Once back on the ground we went to the museum.
The rest of the day was all museums. So lots of information pics below. The progress in the building.
On to a 2nd museum.
We got back on the ferry and went to Ellis Island which in the past was the immigration centre.
Both tired after 8 hrs of exploring we headed back to NYC on the ferry. There was a bit of rock n rolling on the water.
We took an uber this morning and was going to again this afternoon but the app is a bit temperamental and wouldn't work. So we gave the subway a go which was very simple once we worked it out.
We have seen a lot of these buses.
Today we walked 8kms.
Today's temperatures were 11-16, raining and a breeze.
This is our last night in America. We head to London tomorrow 🏴
