Day 58. London. 16.4.24

Lazy morning as we're doing an 11am tour of Westminster Abbey. Our hotel is central to most of London's attractions so only took us about 15 minutes to walk there.

View from our window.

Our meeting place to start the tour. There was only 4 of us, including the guide. Our last ✅ for England.

The Abbey grounds. Allegedly soccer was invented here.

Tea and a pastry were included in the tour.
Inside the cloister.
Looking out from the cloister towards the prayer house, the pyramid shaped building.

Tomb of Queen Elizabeth I and half sister Queen Mary.

Coat of arms originally had a lion and dragon not a lion and unicorn like today's.

Tomb of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York.

Interesting story

Even the monks who were isolated didn't escape the Black death in 1348.
Gilbert Crispin Abbot 1085-1117.
I find it hard to comprehend how long ago these bodies were laid to rest.

Storm brewing as we start to head home. We got a little wet and it hailed for about 60 seconds.  Fairly small stones and no one seemed to notice.
Our grandson was asking us about double decker buses.
We decided to skip the London eye. At the equivalent of almost $90 each we weren't that keen. Maybe there will be another visit another time 🤷‍♀️
Channel 4 Television Headquarters.

Safe spot to lock your bikes up.

Another view from our hotel. If I wasn't so tired I'd go up and down a couple of times.

We're off to the pub for dinner tonight. We will have a quiet drink and remember our dear friend Yvonne who passed away 1 year ago🥂

Today we walked 6kms, taking that to a total of 47kms on my pedometer (33kms recorded on Strava)for the 5 days we have been here.

The temperature was 8-13°, cloudy, windy and a little wet.

Day 90. Home. 18.5.24

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
