Up early this morning to get the shuttle at 5.35am to Heathrow Airport. It arrived before we got there at 5.20.
We fly to Istanbul at 10.35am for our 3rd country of the 5 we have planned to visit. Actually maybe I should change the name of to 6 countries in 3 months as we had a bonus night in Canada.
Sunrise at Heathrow Airport, London.---------------------
What a hectic, crazy day.
We were at the airport by 6am for a flight that was supposed to leave at 10.35. It wasn't until almost 10am that we found out the boarding gate. Thankfully we were in the correct terminal and it wasn't in 1 of the 2 satellite terminals elsewhere. The plane didn't part until almost 11am.
Flight was good and the meals great. Got through customs and got our cases pretty quick. Our shuttle service was a long walk away and when we found the correct spot it was like a market almost. People and business boards everyone. Waited there for about 15 minutes for the driver. A guide walked us through the carpark, on his phone the whole time, never offered any help, never checked to see that anyone was following.
A bit like LA and NY, cars going every which way. Finally the car arrives we all pile in and head in to Istanbul town. It was a long, hot, at times scary drive. Our driver thought he was on a race track, weaving in and out, speeding up, going in and out of small cobblestone roads. It was crazy.
Finally get to our hotel and head up to our room and the elevator door decides to close while Mark's getting in and hits him on his head.
Think we should quit while we can and have a muesli bar for dinner and go to bed.
