Day 43. Kansas City. 1.4.24

This morning we visited the Roasterie and did a lot of coffee sampling and a tour of the facility.

Green beans going in to be roasted.

This afternoon we went to the Arabia Steamboat Museum followed by a wander around the City Market area.

The treasure hunters.

Original window glass found among the cargo of the sunken steamboat.

All those round containers at the front were full of tiny buttons cleaned by the children of those who excavators the boat. We met one of those children and he said it was like a punishment and it was something they wouldn't have been able to break.
Lots of nails, hinges, locks, keys etc have been painstakingly cleaned.

Still to be cleaned. They have about another 18 months worth of cleaning to do. There's another steamboat to be dug up yet.

Anchor and capstan.

It had started to rain so we popped in to a garden ornament store. It was huge and overwhelming.

Had a lovely salad lunch at a Brazilian Cafe before heading back to the motel for a little RnR.
The rain set in and we had thunder and lightning so we waited for a couple of hours then walked down to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fountain. Unfortunately it had also been 'winterfied'

The drizzling rain came back so we called it a day.

Today's temperature was 14-25°
