Day 84. Doha, Qatar πŸ‡ΆπŸ‡¦ 12.5.24

Up and ready way too early this morning to head to the airport. We fly to Doha at 2.10pm. It's just a little over 3hrs flying time.
We crossed the Nile river on the way to the airport.
A few pics below of Cairo town, both old and new.
There's a lot of sand!

Crowne plaza. There was 4 or 5 separate buildings.

After numerous security checks, where males and females were put in separate lines, we finally found the lounge for a drink and snack.
And we're off to our 5th country πŸ‘‹
We're at the pointy end of the plane and there's so much room.

Departing Cairo.

My starters
My main meal. There was Baklava with a pistachio sauce for dessert as well. Way too much food. I sent half back.
Not the best pics but it was quite spectacular coming in to land at Doha.

Walked out the plane and was hit by a wall of hot, humid air.
Our cushy bus ride from the plane to the terminal. Then began the hour long saga to get out of the airport. Our driver was waiting for us and whisked us away to the Ramada in old town Doha. We are on the 9th floor of a corner room so have great views.

I think we'll have an easy day tomorrow and then head out exploring after that.  We have 5 nights here before we depart for Brisbane.

The temperature in Cairo got down to 19° overnight and it was 38° in Doha this afternoon.

  1. Lots of Lexus/Land Cruiser 5.7lt V8 petrol LC570/200's. Virtually the same vehicle... and Porches. Mercedes and BMW'S are the cheapies. Petrol is US$0.54/lt. All water here is desalinated.

A very cruisy flight. Arrived back in Brisbane half hour early.  I caught up on some movies and we both managed a couple of hours snoozing. ...
